Recommended Neurophysiology Course and Text
For neurofeedback, one course we know is good the best neurophysiology course we know of is taught by Dr. Harold Burke, a neuropsychologist based in California. The course is offered twice a year by EEG Spectrum International. He uses the Kandel book, Introduction to Brain and Behavior by Kolb and Whishaw. There may be others, but we're not aware of any better at this point.
It's a four- day course taught over two weekends, sometimes in Boston and sometimes in LA. It's a very intensive, a lot of material is covered. You need to read the prerequisite chapters before you go to get the most out of it. Dr. Burke, who's in private practice and in teaches a similar course at Cal State Northridge, knows the current literature and understanding of neurophysiology extremely well. More importantly, he explains some complex dense material in understandable ways.
Most clinicians take this course after they've started learning neurofeedback. Anytime you take it would be valuable. If you already have some knowledge of the EEG it would be helpful. |
