American Psychiatric Association Meeting
Since 2003, there's been a course at this international meeting to help more psychiatrists understand neurofeedback. It's been very well received. The chair is Dr. Tom Brod, a psychiatrist in private practice and an associate professor at UCLA. The co-chair is Michael Cohen and Roger DeBeus.
In May 2006, the APA meeting was in Toronto. There was a 6 hour CME course called Neurofeedback in Psychiatry: Clinical Applications. on neurofeedback and a Symposium on Neurofeedback and ADD.
The course included a review of the research, clinical applications, an explanation of the underlying mechanisms and a demonstration of how it works. For the presentations in Toronto, Dr. Steve Buie, Dr. Sam Roura and Dr. Tom Brod are pictured below from 2005. They were joined by Dr. David Mitnick, a child psychiatrist and Dr. Angelo Bolea, a neuropsychologist, Larry Hirshberg, Ph.D. and Roger DeBeus, Ph.D.
Roger DeBeus, Ph.D. Tom Brod, MD, Larry Hirshberg, Ph.D. and David Mitnick, MD also presented a Symposium on Neurofeedback and ADHD at teh 2006 APA. Audio tapes are available from the APA.
